Job's Tears are one of the world's oldest and most storied natural beads, named for the biblical figure Job, who endured great suffering. The teardrop shape of these seeds has inspired many names across cultures and faiths — they are also known as Saint Mary's Tears, David's Tears, and Christ's Tears, reflecting centuries of spiritual and devotional use in rosaries and prayer beads around the world.
Harvested from a tropical wild grass native to the Philippines, these seeds have been gathered for centuries as both a food source and a cherished material for decorative crafts and jewelry making. When harvested, each seed already has a naturally polished sheen and a pre-formed hole — a gift from nature that makes them ready to string.
Because these are a natural material, each bead is beautifully unique, varying in shades of cream, grey, tan, and brown.
